Directions
From Sherifhall roundabout, take the city bypass A720 head towards A1 and take the first exit to Jedburgh A68
After approx. 4 miles turn right at the signpost B6372 Gorebridge
Pass through Dewarton village and after approx. 1 mile, turn left into Vogrie Country Park
The site is at the bottom of the main drive beyond the main house and adventure playground.
Access & Parking
Groups can arrive from 2pm.
In the evening, the gates to Vogrie Country Park are locked at sunset however arrangements can be made for groups arriving late.
There is strictly no vehicle access for parents before 6pm unless a member of the disabled blue badge scheme.
Before 6pm and on Saturday and Sunday, parents are permitted to 1 hour free parking in assigned drop-off area (at the top of the drive, next to the walled garden). If staying longer in the park, parents must park in the public car park at the entrance and walk down. There is a charge (£2) to use the public car park.
The speed limit in the park is 10mph
Things To Do
Within the country park there are several activities that you can make use of:
- Midlothian Council Ranger Service – midlothian.gov.uk
Have resource boxes for self-led activities covering pond and river dipping, woodlands and mini beasts, environmental games and include bug boxes, nets, trays, ID keys, etc. These boxes must be pre-booked by emailing
- Orienteering – Children’s and adults maps available.
- Adventure Playground – is public and can be busy at the weekend
- Miniature Railway –run by Esk Valley Model Engineering Society and operates Sundays 1300-1600 hours from April to September

Vogrie Residential & Training Centre Souvenirs
Small souvenirs and badges are on sale and are kept in the cupboard opposite the Crichton bedroom (next to the telephone). The key to the cupboard can be found in the Key Box outside the kitchen.
