Congratulations to Grace Hunter (Young Leader with 5th Bonnyrigg Guides) who has been awarded a Saltire Summit Award at the Midlothian Volunteer Awards 2025.
Grace is a volunteer Young leader with 5th Bonnyrigg Guides, Girlguiding Midlothian, as well as KIC Dance Company, and Lasswade High School's Drama Department.
As a Young Leader, she helps run weekly meetings, camps, and activities or Guides ages 10-14, and has completed her Young Leader Qualification. At KIC, she supports junior dancers and choreographed the S1-3 pantomime.
Grace is a positive role model who balances school, hobbies, and volunteering, always supporting others with empathy, energy, and a strong sense of responsibility.
The Saltire Awards are a national youth volunteer awards scheme, endorsed by the Scottish Government, The awards recognise the contribution of young volunteers ages 12 - 25 years old.
As part of the scheme, young people work their way through the various stages of the awards based on the number of hours of volunteering they have done. The Summit is the highest level of award a young person can gain.
A maximum of 12 Summit Awards are presented each year to young people who have made an outstanding contribution to volunteering in Midlothian, which makes Grace's award even more special!
