The main aim of the Trefoil Guild is to support Girlguiding. The organisation provides friendship, fun and activities for its members as well as opportunities to support guiding and the community.
Membership of the Guild is open to women and men over 18 years of age who agree to support the guiding ethos - including the pledge to help other people. Many Trefoil Guild members have been or are members of the Girlguiding or Scouting movements.
In Midlothian we have 2 Trefoil Guilds that meet in Bonnyrigg and Penicuik. Guilds meet normally once a month and hold interesting evenings with talks from various organisations, activities and visits.
We also like to get out and about and learn new skills. And we particularly enjoy visiting units and helping them out with Interest and Challenge badges and other activities.

An exciting and flexible programme with a huge variety of challenges and opportunities for personal development – sure to impress universities and potential employers alike!
Rangers members can undertake a wide range of awards and qualifications. These include the Young Leadership qualification, which helps them in running guiding units for younger girls, the internationally-recognised Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, and other prestigious awards specific to guiding.

There are many international opportunities open to Rangers members, ranging from attending guiding events abroad to volunteering on community projects in developing countries.
Members also have the unique opportunity to become Peer Educators, trained to run sessions on issues that affect girls and young women, such as binge drinking, bullying, stress management and sexual health.
Or make their voices heard by joining the guiding delegation at the British Youth Council, for example, or having a say in the future of guiding by attending one of our Innovate meetings.

By becoming part of a worldwide community of girls who learn together and share skills and experiences, Guides have the chance to get out there and do something really different.

At their regular meetings, plus camps, holidays and other events, Guides can try a wide range of exciting activities - everything from arts, crafts and music to adventurous outdoor activities - giving them the opportunity to develop personally as individuals or as members or leaders of a team of 4-8 other girls (called a Patrol).
With the support of an adult Leader, Guides choose and run some of the activities themselves using the Girlguiding programme.
Girls can extend their knowledge and skills by working towards interest badges. They can also gain Challenge badges that recognise their participation in guiding over a period of time. The badges build towards the highest award a guide can gain - the Baden-Powell Challenge Award.

Brownies is about helping to put a smile on young faces and creating confident young women. It’s also a great way to make new friends.
Through this action-packed programme, girls can build confidence by developing new skills, learning about the wider community, finding out about different cultures and getting involved with global issues like the environment and endangered species.

Brownies attend meetings that are packed with all sorts of games, crafts, outings and challenges.
